about

Brendan: This song was composed by us experimenting with the so-called ‘drama chord’ as called by Simon and evolved out of a jam between Scott and I. We recorded this song in parts over a long time, but it had always been stored away as it was often a tad rocky for the vibe we have been going for in the past - covid changed all that.

The lyric centres around a lot of the anxieties and philosophies I carry day to day - the fear of taking risks and failing but knowing that I have to embrace those failures (“spit in the wind, inhale it in”), trying to make time to do the things that make me happy whilst also doing things for others, and most of all appreciate all the things around me that I should be grateful for - my family, ancestry and community - “Know where you’ve been.”

lyrics

Take a little time
Relax, rewind
Follow your own nose
Don’t leave it behind
Spit in the wind
Inhale it in
Dip in your cold toes
Know where you’ve been

Know where you’ve been
Know where you’ve been

Make a little peace
Enjoy the release
Take your hand from the fire
Cut another piece
Fill your lungs with air
Closer than they appear
Beginning to tire
But you’re already there

You’re already there
